An awesome day hiking Mount Baldy (10,064 ft), the grandest summit of the San Gabriel Mountains, and the third highest massif in Southern California.

This is a preview of good things to come.

Seth, Steve and Chris hike it up Mount Baldy's Ski Hut Trail to the summit. Having passed a dauntingly icy north face in the trees, the southern face was pretty clean. Remnants of yesterday's ice storm glittered around us as the ice melted in the midday sun. In the background, thick clouds threatened us in the distance, but it remained pristine and sunny above us for the duration of the hike.
